I have created several Permutations including a figure with an umbrella standing below the “rain” of a Permutation shape disintegrating.
This composition includes an image of pop singer Lady Gaga staring directly at the viewer with a solemn expression. She stands beneath a Permutation shape and is carrying an umbrella made from a giant sea shell. The Permutation shape appears to be falling apart with individual segments cascading through the air and accumulating at her feet, altogether creating a surreal and whimsical tableau.
I pulled the clipping from a March issue of the Italian fashion magazine, Grazia, which I picked up on a recent trip to Italy. According to the magazine, the photo was originally taken as Lady Gaga was leaving her hotel in London in 2013. The original image was part of an exhibition of photography at the ITS Arcademy, Museum of Art in Fashion, on view from March 2026 - January 3 2027.
