Permutation no. 1036
The page on which this Permutation is created is from a book I picked up around 20 years ago. It is the first piece of art I’ve made from it. It’s called Adoptive Rite Ritual - A Book of Instruction in the Organization, Government and Ceremonies of Chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star, arranged by Robert Macoy, printed in 1952. It is filled with symbols, instruction of rituals, and songs for some Masonic order.
The collage elements were taken from far more contemporary sources, though still pretty old. I believe they’re from glossy men’s style magazines along the lines of Instinct or something like that, from either the late 90’s or early 2000’s. The suited figure is actually the actor Eric McCormack. The butterfly is from an ad for gym shoes.
